The Origin

How EMD Was Built, and Why It Had to Be

Ever grew up in North Carolina after being born in Texas. Long before digital marketing, there was paint and canvas: fine arts was his first language from childhood. When the 2010 financial crisis hit, he enrolled at the Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham to study graphic and web design, expecting to resist the digital world. Instead, he was completely engulfed by it. What followed was a decade-plus of building serious competency, across enterprise software, ministry, and service business marketing, that eventually led to EMD.

The Path That Led Here

1
2010

Enrolled at the Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham for graphic design and web design.

2
2011–2012

Started as an intern at Hostel Rocket, a Durham startup, working as a frontend developer and graphic designer. Within months, was recruited full-time.

3
2012–2017

Recruited to BB&T (now Truist), then the sixth-largest bank in America. Spent five years as a frontend developer on core platform teams, eventually contributing to the technical and design infrastructure of the Truist-SunTrust merger integration.

4
2017–2022

Left enterprise work to pursue full-time ministry. Served as instructor and designer for The Last Reformation, a global organization, producing marketing efforts, instructional content, and design work. Also founded One Way Gospel as a personal ministry platform in 2014.

5
2024–Present

Settled family in DFW and took a contract role with a roofing company. Discovered firsthand that third-party leads were low quality and the prospects were frustrated. Stepped away to immerse in CRM infrastructure, marketing automation, and campaign strategy across multiple platforms, sustaining with design work while building the methodology that became EMD.

"Lead gen shouldn't be so messy. It shouldn't be manipulative. It can be clean. It can be genuine. It can be good."

The Methodology

Before We Build the Engine, We Fix the Frame

Most agencies start with execution: ads, SEO, funnels, content, websites, and campaigns. Ever takes a different approach. Start by clarifying the business frame first.

The insight is simple: brand isn't just a visual. It's also your message. It is also who you are. Think of it like a car: you can have beautiful exterior styling, but without a solid frame and a working engine underneath, the look means nothing. The Frame is your foundation: offer, message, positioning, brand identity, and visual consistency. The Engine is what moves that message: Meta ads, Google ads, organic social, SEO, video, email, whatever channels are right for your business.

01

Frame

Clarify who the business is for, what problem it solves, and how it should be positioned: offer, message, brand identity, and visual consistency across all platforms.

  • Best-fit customer
  • Core service offer
  • Local positioning
  • Trust signals
  • Message clarity
02

Blueprint

Translate the clarified frame into a structured marketing plan guiding website content, local SEO, ads, funnels, and follow-up.

  • Website message
  • Offer structure
  • Funnel path
  • Lead capture points
  • Sales follow-up direction
03

Engine

Build the execution layer only after the frame is clear: Meta Ads, Google Ads, organic social, SEO, video, lead magnets, CRM workflows.

  • Website and landing pages
  • Local SEO
  • Paid ads
  • Google Business Profile
  • CRM and follow-up workflows

"If you take the time to build out your blueprint and your message now, the ability to produce quality campaigns, posts, content, and video becomes exponentially easier."

Clarity Is Not a Buzzword

  • Clarity is the removal of cloudy details.
  • It means knowing the one thing that separates you from every competitor.
  • It means your message is consistent across your website, ads, social, and sales conversations.
  • It means you can explain your offer in an elevator pitch or a ten-minute conversation.

The Work

Skills and Experience Behind the System

Ever's professional foundation spans enterprise software, design systems, and marketing infrastructure, built over fifteen-plus years across corporate, ministry, and service business environments. At Truist, he worked on design systems that maintained consistency across multiple projects using modern tech stacks and frameworks, work that taught him how to think about scalable, lasting infrastructure. That same thinking now drives how he builds marketing systems for service businesses.

Brand & Design

Graphic design, web design, brand identity systems, and visual consistency across platforms. Rooted in fine arts training and enterprise-scale design system work at Truist Bank.

Paid Advertising

Meta Ads as the primary lead generation engine, combined with Google Ads strategies tailored to local service markets.

Lead Gen & Funnels

Lead magnet architecture, landing pages, and CRM automation that replaces expensive third-party lead dependency.

Frontend Development

Five years of enterprise-level frontend development at Truist. Website builds, design-to-code execution, and scalable technical infrastructure.

SEO & Organic Growth

Local service business SEO, content strategy, and organic social, the long-term engine that compounds alongside paid campaigns.

Strategy & Positioning

Local market research, offer clarity, message development, and the foundational work most businesses skip.

Proof of Concept: The Roofing Blueprint

In his first full engagement with a roofing company, Ever generated between 100 and 150 qualified leads over four months using a multi-channel approach: Meta ads as the primary driver, combined with lead magnet initiatives and organic traffic strategies. More importantly, he helped that business cut its marketing spend by approximately $1,500 per month by moving away from expensive third-party lead gen and building their own in-house lead generation capability.

He formalized the process into a repeatable playbook: structured research, industry analysis, and a campaign framework that dramatically reduced marketing execution time without sacrificing lead quality.

The Person

Who Ever Actually Is

Ever has been married for eighteen years and has four children. He and his wife moved to the DFW area intentionally, both to build a sustainable business and to position themselves for ongoing ministry work across the country. His family is the reason EMD was built the way it was: intentionally small, values-first, focused on real partnerships over transactional work.

Outside of work, his time is spent with family: visiting Sight and Sound performances, playing card games, low-key tennis, and mission travel. He and his wife live in a close-knit faith community in the DFW area. He's not someone who needs structured hobbies; he's present with the people around him.

One thing that might surprise you if you only know him professionally: he has a weakness for lavender-flavored coffee.

What He Stands For

  • Integrity Above Everything

He has a deep personal conviction against manipulation, lies, and deception, not as a marketing philosophy, but as a core part of who he is. This shapes every client relationship and every campaign EMD runs.

  • Transparency Even When It Costs

He operates openly, even when it makes the business vulnerable, even if it means not using flashy language or manufactured urgency. If EMD isn't the right fit, he'll say so.

  • Goes Further Than the Contract

He doesn't nickel and dime. He is overly helpful within reason, and wants to be remembered for one thing: he cared, and he helped.

  • Community Over Transactions

He has traveled to other states to spend time with clients outside of business. He's not looking for customers. He's looking for people to build with.

"I want people to say: they know what they're talking about. They care. And they help at all cost."

The Vision

Where EMD Is Going

EMD is intentionally small. Ever works with a handful of clients, not because he can't scale, but because serving well requires real attention. His days start with prayer and family before he touches a single client task.

01

The Ideal Client

Service business owners who want to grow, not just in revenue, but in reputation and integrity. People who want a genuine long-term partner, not a vendor. Values-aligned, growth-oriented, and done with the third-party lead gen hamster wheel.

02

3–5 Year Vision

Maintain the same values while bringing on someone who shares this philosophy to handle day-to-day execution. Step back into more ministry work while the business continues to serve clients well. Not an agency empire, a sustainable, values-first operation.

Before You Spend More on Marketing, Make Sure You Know Who's Behind It

If you are a service business owner looking for a clarity partner who will go further than the contract, tell you the truth, and build something that actually works, start with a conversation.

"Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Yes, there are marketing agencies chasing quick wins without doing the real work. But not all agencies are the same. A clarity audit and a real conversation with EMD is worth the time. EMD isn't looking for a quick win or fast money, it's looking for a long-lasting partnership where both sides are committed to scaling the business and getting the brand out there. If EMD can't help you do that, then it hasn't done its job."
